The mission of MNIVA is to preserve and nurture the ecosystem of independent venues and promoters throughout the State of Minnesota.
1. To provide opportunities for valuable professional networking for our organizations, helping them share information on success strategies and overcoming challenges.
2. To highlight the value these organizations provide within their communities and our state. We recognize members who make exceptional contributions to our cultural environment.
3. To address public policy issues that impact our members while ensuring their ability to successfully serve artists and their communities.
The Minnesota Independent Venue Alliance (MNIVA) is an organization of independent performing arts venues and promoters across Minnesota.
Our members exist in nearly every Minnesota community and all have one thing in common – we are home to both established and emerging performing artists, entertain arts patrons each year, and provide immeasurable cultural and economic contributions to our communities.
MNIVA members are critical to their local economies and tax bases as employers, tourism destinations, and revenue generators for neighboring businesses such as restaurants, hotels and retail stores.
The U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis reports that arts and cultural production accounts for over $12 billion and 3.5% of the Minnesota economy, contributing nearly 100,000 jobs. This ranks 3rd among all industries in the state, behind only Retail and Construction. For every $1 spent on a ticket at small venues, a total of $12 in economic activity is generated.
MNIVA’s work is supported by dues paid by member organizations and friends of the performing arts.
